FIASKO – THE SILENT CHAPTER

Exhibition-Performance by K.A.U.&Wdowik

For more than a year K.A.U.&Wdowik have been working on the project FIASKO. The exhibition THE SILENT CHAPTER looks back and shows impressions and fragments of the research for the project.

Two years ago, while working on TRANSIT MONUMENTAL, K.A.U.&Wdowik met a woman in Kalkow, a remote place in the south of Poland. She accompanied the team on their way, but did not say a word. Her passive presence made the last part of the shooting an irritating event. Later they learn that the woman was an opera singer and had sung the greatest arias until the day she suddenly fell silent. This spring, K.A.U. & Wdowik set out again for Poland to search for the origin of this story. The performance FIASKO – THE SILENT CHAPTER tells about an encounter and the idea for a film opera.
