RETURN OF A GODDESS

Performance by K.A.U.&Wdowik

One goddess, two statues and a double theft: More than 200 years ago, Alexander von Humboldt brought a statue of the deity Chicomecoatl from Mexico to Berlin, where it became part of the ethnological collection. In 2018, K.A.U.&Wdowik traveled back to Mexico with a copy of the statue to start a new one in the footsteps of ancient tales. Return of a Goddess is both a cinematic travelogue and a scenic fantasy about how to deal with colonial heritage.
